Haringey Council  Schools Project

 

HouseTech Controls installed at Highgate Wood and Stamford Hill. When weather is taken into account savings on HouseHeat give savings in excess of 20% against the standard TRVs that were in place before these were swapped for HouseHeat controls.

Regarding the financial savings, please see the following evidence:

We anticipated Highgate Wood’s annual cost reductions of £3,311.

The figures I have provided you translate to financial savings of £4,104.

This means that, even before the loan is repaid, the school will benefit by £14,220,  £5,947 more than anticipated.

In October 2010 Rosebank Care Home was approached by HouseTech Solutions Ltd about their Househeat System 1 and 2.

At this time Rosebank had high energy bills and a heating system that was either overheating rooms or under heating .Their was no control for each individual to meet their personal preferences for room temperature. Radiators were either on or off.

The Househeat system was installed and had an immediate beneficial effect throughout the home. Rooms are set to met individual needs. Settings are reduced for when residence are out of their rooms. The home is more comfortable for both residents and staff. I particularly like that the temperature setting is automatically reduced when a window opens.

The system has also help to reduce our energy bills.

I have no hesitation in recommending the system within the care home sector.

CLIENT ACHIEVES 76% SAVING AFTER INSTALLING HOUSEHEAT

 

Sorry for the delay in writing. Have been too busy dealing with my own clients.

Anyway I have cleaned up some of my data and attached – hope it will help you. If any potential client wants to talk to a happy customer please get them to telephone me.

I have 14 rads in a 4 bed house. The loft has max insulation, the walls are cavity filled, suspended floor insulated. House has new double glazing ( about 18 months old now).

A vaillant ecotech plus 624 24 kw system boiler was installed in Sept 2010 ( the start date for my records). I always adjust the boiler temp to ensure max condensing.

Apart from the weather ( which was milder this year) nothing else was changed. I installed you system around Christmas last year but stopped making any comparison on Nov 25 because that is when

A new 5kw wood burner was installed. So I can only make a fair comparison from Sept 3 to Nov 25. Even allowing for the better weather a 76% reduction in gas usage is not bad.

I am using the boiler connect to control 6 rads – with the others only being able to come on if a control rad activates the boiler. I’m still experimenting but feel that it is better to set a minimum percentage before allowing a rad to activate the boiler. 

If you make any improvements to the system I would be grateful if you could let me know and if you ever want anyone to road test anything just give me a call.

Dear Housetech

Since I purchased your controls with the boiler box for my 3 rental properties I have seen my gas usage cut in half !

I am now in control as the tenants cant just pump up the heating and open the windows. I must say the boiler box is a great addition as the tenants dont know which thermostat I have programmed to it. I have added (as you know) some window sensors in the lounge and have told them they are something to do with the alarm! They dont know they turn the radiators down if they open a window! It is a great system and I thank you for the great advice and system I now have. You should contact the Landlords association as  I am sure you would sell hundreds.

The difference this has made is amazing. I have fitted the electronic valves to the two rads in my lounge, they are both big rads and in the past they have made the room either too hot or too cold. Not only do these regulate the temp but the radiators in the rest of the house are now twice as hot as they were previously! These front ones must have been taking all the heat. (one is a single ten foot one and the other is a double four foot).

Not only that but we have a back boiler and before fitting these you could hear it striking up every ten minutes or so. Now its two or three times an hour if that. Ill certainly be recommending these to my friends!

System installed & all working fine.

On the system itself I think it is fantastic & feel there are a couple of tricks you are missing: 

  1. The system was a major expense but I have justified partly on the fact that I work from home & normally had no option but to heat the whole house, & partly that the house we have just moved into had a very badly designed & balanced heating system that much of the house was either too warm or too cold. Some rooms the radiators were way too big & some too small. In one day the system has made the entire house comfortable & I now only heat the 1 or 2 rooms I use during the day when the rest of the family are at work or school. I can see substantial savings being made here,
  2. In the same way you turn off a light as you leave a room, it is now possible to just as easily turn off the heating. If we go to bed earlier than the thermostats are set for, it is an easy job turning off the relevant rooms knowing that they will comE back on when the next autocycle is reached,

These things are great, It has saved me loads on my oil bill we have a six bed house and payback has been less than a year. I have looked at my prvious usage and since installing these I have saved just under 40%.

It now means all my rooms are at a constant temperature. Being able to vary the temperature at different times of the day means I have the house warm only when I am there.

I have a couple of properties that I rent out where i have to pay the bills! Can you give me a good price on 2 properties one with 9 radiators and 5 zones and the other with 14 radiators and 8 zones? I would like a boiler box for each.

I thought I would just send you an email to say how pleased I am (and my colleagues are) with the HouseHeat system.

 

We installed a new boiler last year and added the HouseHeat controllers a couple of weeks ago.  The boiler box is being installed soon as it is too complicated to install by us.  We have no existing thermostat, there is a frost stat and pump control.  I have the system at home, and it was easier to fit as I just ‘replaced’ the room thermometer. 

 

Just for your information, we are in an office with three floors.  There are servers in the ground office area producing heat.  The first floor is office space as it the top floor.  The top floor is divided in to executive office space.

 

The ground floor is one zone as is the first floor.  The top floor is a zone per office.

 

We have found that the ground floor and first floor radiators shut down mid-morning (we used to have to open the windows as the top floor offices were still too cool)!!

 

I have attached a graph of our office gas consumption.  I am sure that the new system will prove to give a huge saving (though not as much as the new boiler!)

 

As well as the cost savings, everyone is comfortable.  Not too hot, not too cold!

 

We decided not to install a thermostat and controller in one zone and instead installed it in the downstairs loo.  We were surprised that the valve was always at 100%.  We discovered a draught from the boiler cupboard locating in the room and sealed it using draught excluder.  This reduced the valve opening to 66%.  I have now reduced the temperature from 21°C to 19° C and the valve is now at 36%.  I will further reduce the temperature to 18°C to see what happens.  (Note:  if the unit is continually calling for heat I will not pair it to the Boiler controller as it will run the boiler unnecessarily.)

 

I will update the graph as we go through the winter and let you know the results.

Having now fitted the system, it’s like living in a different house.

The rooms that we had difficulty getting to the right temperature are now comfortable.

A strength of your system is the ability to turn on the radiators at different times thus easing the strain on the boiler.
